Anita Tekchandani, M.D., treats a wide variety of urological conditions using both advanced medical and surgical treatment techniques. She specializes in diagnosis and treatment of diseases, disorders, injuries and deformities of the urinary tract system in men and women.
As a urologist, Dr. Tekchandani treats cancer, kidney stones, prostate enlargement, infertility, impotence, incontinence and infections. “I chose the field of urology because it provides a blend of both medical and surgical care,” she said. “Helping my patients improve and feel better is my favorite aspect of the job.”
Dr. Tekchandani is very passionate about her membership and involvement with the Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaboration. “I feel very strongly that this statewide collaborative group has influenced the care of urology patients across Michigan and will continue to help urologists across the state lead the way to provide the best urologic care we can offer,” she said.

“I believe in taking the time to provide the best possible care for each and every patient,” she said. “I like to make my patients feel comfortable by carefully listening to their concerns and taking a collaborative approach to their care.”
According to Dr. Tekchandani, the field of urology is continually evolving and she works hard to ensure that she is up-to-date on the latest advancements in medical and surgical treatment. “It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to partner with the University of Michigan and to collaborate on bringing our patients the very best in advanced urological care.”
As a result of her ongoing efforts to provide excellent patient care, Dr. Tekchandani recently received a Top Performer, Excellence in Healthcare Award from Professional Research Consultants, Inc. and The Institute for Healthcare Excellence.
Dr. Tekchandani treats patients with a wide variety of urological problems. These include disorders and diseases affecting the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, along with the epididymis, penis, prostate, seminal vesicles and testes. She also enjoys evaluating and treating children with urinary symptoms and urological disorders.
