Family Practice Center

Caring for your patient panel is central to your clinical experience. Your practice will be based in the Family Practice Center, located at the Gerstacker Building on the campus of MyMichigan Medical Center Midland.

The facility houses a Simulation Laboratory, residency program faculty and support staff offices, study and learning space for medical students and residents, 42 examination rooms and four procedure suites, plus the Family Practice Center.

Patient Care

Quality education begins with quality patient care. As a resident, you will be involved in every aspect of your patients' primary care, including preventive medicine, health monitoring, acute and chronic problem management, and rehabilitation.

Small Town with Big-City Amenities

Midland, Michigan is a progressive, affordable community with a vibrant economy and world class education, sports and entertainment. It combines a small-town atmosphere with big-city amenities. While Midland is a regionally preferred location for shopping and dining, it is also less than two hours from major cities including Ann Arbor, Detroit, Lansing, Traverse City and Grand Rapids.

Here in the middle of Michigan, recreation opportunities abound. Sail, swim or fish on the largest freshwater coastline in the United States. Join adult leagues for softball, hockey, tennis, soccer, curling, and more. If you prefer spectator sports, you can enjoy local teams such as minor league baseball's Great Lakes Loons, the Saginaw Spirit Hockey team, or make the short drive to Detroit for a Tigers, Lions or Red Wings game.

Enjoy plays and musicals; world class art, history and science museums; a professional symphony and internationally-known entertainers all year long at the Midland Center for the Arts. Unique cultural opportunities are also available in nearby cities including Mt. Pleasant, Bay City and Saginaw.

Without a doubt, your residency will be a rigorous experience, and we encourage you to have a life while learning. Our residents and faculty often gather for social events including an annual picnic, Christmas party, outings at the Great Lake Loons baseball, team-building events, and wellness activities such as bowling, curling, movies and cookouts.

There are ample opportunities to stay in the community after graduation. MyMichigan Health is growing and in need of family medicine physicians as well as hospitalists, emergency physicians and more. Midland is also home to the worldwide headquarters of the Dow company as well as many businesses of all sizes, providing potential employment opportunities for spouses.
