Diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions.
Most ultrasound examinations are done using an ultrasound device outside your body, though some involve placing a device inside your body.
Ultrasound Services provided:
- Abdomen (aorta, appendix, bile ducts, gallbladder, kidneys, liver, pancreas, spleen, etc.)
- Pelvis and Scrotum (gynecological, infertility including male infertility, ovarian abnormalities, pelvic pain, uterine abnormalities, etc.)
- Head, Neck and Chest (difficulty swallowing, thyroid nodules, etc.)
- Fetal (obstetrical)
- Etc.
You must have a signed physician order to schedule, however, you do not need to be a MyMichigan patient. We accept signed orders from any provider or location.
