Mental Health Basics
Mental health conditions are real medical issues—just like heart disease or diabetes. They can happen to anyone and may be caused by things like biology, life stress, or environment.
Some signs of mental health problems include:
- Changes in sleep, eating, or energy
- Feeling sad, anxious, or angry often
- Mood swings or acting out
- Thoughts of self-harm or harming others
- Pulling away from friends or family
Good news: mental health conditions can be treated. Talking with a therapist and, in some cases, using medication can help people manage symptoms and feel better.
