MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw is a 268-bed full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care, a level II trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. - 1999 | The Daughters of Charity National Health System merges with the Sisters of Saint Joseph to form Ascension Health.
The Saginaw hospital is renamed to Saint Mary’s
Towne Centre expands to include free-standing emergency department, pain clinic, endoscopy and ancillary services
- 1992 | The Towne Centre free-standing surgical center opens as first major health care delivery site in Saginaw Township
- 1987 | Flightcare’s medical emergency helicopter transfer service opens base at St. Mary’s
- 1984 | The region’s first open heart surgery occurs on Sept. 10, 1984
- 1975 | The St. Mary’s Burn Unit opens
- 1961 | A new facility opens following the demolition of the 1892 building
- 1928 | New building adds an emergency room, four operating rooms and a medical library, bringing total number of beds to 156
- 1875 | A new building begins on the site and the hospital incorporated as St. Mary’s. Its first patients were principally injured lumbermen. The staff devises a health insurance plan of $5 a year to raise funds. The hospital continues to expand
- 1874 | The facility opens on Aug. 22
- 1873 | Fr. Francis van der Bom, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Saginaw, requests Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul
